    Thank you so much for the insightful podcast. I learnt some really valuable things and look forward to adopting them.
    Carla – I just wanted to ask about pregnancy vitamins. I have been trying to conceive and my doctor and OB has recommended the black mores brand to supplement folate, iron etc. I am reluctant to take these as I feel they might be ‘commercial’. What’s your advice on pregnancy vitamins brought off the shelf?
    Also – what is your understanding of a miscarriage and its causes (from a Chinese medicine perspective)?

    • Thanks for the love Emma. With pregnancy multi’s, be careful with store bought brands because their doses might not be enough for you specifically. Though, I think Blackmores is probably the better of them. I’d personally recommend ‘practitioner only’ products you can get from you acupuncturist or naturopath etc – brands like Metagenics and Biomedica if possible.
      When it comes to miscarriage (or anything for that matter) from a Chinese Med point of view, everyone is diagnosed individually using differential diagnosis – so there is no one cause. Common diagnosis can be Kidney Jing deficiency., blood stasis, cold in the uterus or blood deficiency etc. Causes are everything from genetic/constitution, diet, lifestyle, stress factors etc. If you’d like to chat more you can always do a quick skype consult with myself or book in to see a local TCM practitioner near you. We can help so much with preventing miscarriage and supporting fertility and pregnancy. Hope this helps.

  • Fancy our toilet paper and tampons containing nasties! Thank you so much for this. I try to buy organic food and make-up where possible, and use natural skin care and products for the home, but I’m having less and less time to make these myself. Carla, I’d love to know your favourite skin care, make-up and home cleaning products if you have any. x

      You’re most welcome :) Re: the products I use:
      – skincare: Grown Alchemy, Mukti, Aesop
      – Cleaning products: I use vinegar + water for a lot of things but some brands include Earth balance, Eco-store, Modere – anything chemical free and earth friendly when buying from the supermarket
      – cosmetics/makeup: Hourglass (it is AMAZING, my fav), Inika + Bare Minerals
